Doha, Qatar – 12 October 2026: United Development Company (UDC), the master developer of The Pearl and Gewan Islands, in partnership with The Pearl International Hospital, hosted a community awareness event and workshop to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month, bringing together UDC employees, residents and healthcare professionals to highlight the importance of early detection, preventive healthcare and informed health choices.
Held at The Pearl International Hospital, the event builds on an awareness programme introduced by UDC last year, reinforcing its commitment to making breast cancer awareness an annual community initiative. Through its continued efforts, UDC aims to create opportunities for residents and community members to access trusted health information, encourage proactive healthcare choices and promote a culture of prevention and wellbeing across The Pearl and Gewan Islands.
The workshop focused on practical ways to support early detection, with healthcare specialists highlighting the importance of recognizing changes and potential early signs, carrying out regular self-examinations and seeking professional medical advice when needed. Participants were also encouraged to make routine health screenings a priority, including mammograms for eligible women, as part of a proactive approach to maintaining their health.
The programme also highlighted the important role women play in encouraging positive health choices within their families and wider communities. A keynote address by local entrepreneur and influencer Afraa Al Noaimi offered a message of encouragement and confidence, urging women to look after themselves and one another, keep conversations around health open, share knowledge and experiences, and recognize that making time for their own wellbeing is a powerful choice.
The Pearl International Hospital forms an important part of UDC’s integrated community ecosystem, supporting its vision of a well-serviced destination where essential healthcare services are accessible within the community. Located in Medina Centrale, the hospital was established through a partnership between UDC and Ruzgar Healthcare Holding and offers a comprehensive range of specialized medical services, advanced diagnostic facilities and preventive healthcare programmes, serving residents of The Pearl and Gewan Islands and patients from across Qatar.
The event was supported by Hospitality Development Company (HDC), Lab 33, Skin & More, Quartier Beauty and Floribunda, whose contributions helped enhance the community experience and support the programme’s objectives.
Extending the breast cancer awareness campaign across UDC’s destinations, several prominent landmarks were also illuminated in pink from 1 October until the end of October 2026, including UDC Tower, Gewan Bridge and the Crystal Walk shades. The lighting provides a visible reminder of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and reinforces the message of early detection throughout the wider community.
By continuing this annual programme, UDC is building on a lasting community legacy that goes beyond a single event, creating recurring opportunities to inform, engage and encourage healthier choices. The initiative reflects UDC’s wider commitment to supporting the wellbeing of its communities and enhancing quality of life across The Pearl and Gewan Islands.
