The death toll from a Russian aerial attack on Komyshuvakha village in Ukraine’s southern Zaporizhzhia region has risen to 53, acting regional governor Mykhailo Semikin said Friday.
Search and rescue operations have continued at the site for five consecutive days, Semikin said in a Telegram post.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky earlier said that around 10 aerial bombs struck a school where residents had gathered to receive humanitarian aid.
The attack has caused significant loss of life in the frontline community. Rescue teams continue searching the affected area as emergency operations remain underway. The incident has raised further concerns about the safety of civilians in areas close to the fighting.
