US Subpoenas Omar’s Relatives in Immigration Inquiry

US federal agents investigating Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar have subpoenaed some of her relatives as part of an inquiry into her family’s immigration history, The New York Times reported Tuesday.
Omar’s sister, Sahra Noor, and at least one other family member received subpoenas, the newspaper reported, citing people familiar with the investigation.
The development followed a search of Omar’s Washington, DC, home by Department of Homeland Security agents, who reportedly removed boxes of documents.
The inquiry partly examines whether Omar’s late father, Nur Omar Mohamed, provided false or incomplete information on immigration forms before becoming a US citizen, according to the report.
Omar criticized the search on Monday, accusing the Trump administration of targeting political opponents. In a post on X, she described the operation as an attempt to weaponize federal law enforcement and said she would not be silenced.
President Donald Trump alleged Tuesday on Truth Social that Omar had committed fraud, demanding answers.
Vice President JD Vance said he had no advance notice of the search, according to the report.
The allegations and investigation remain subject to further clarification from the relevant authorities.
