MIRPUR (AJK), Sept. 3 — Speakers paid rich tributes to veteran Kashmiri political activist, seasoned lawyer and former Ombudsman of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Advocate Zafar Hussain Mirza at a condolence reference held by the District Bar Association Mirpur on Thursday.
Judges from the superior and subordinate judiciary, lawyers and prominent personalities from various walks of life attended the reference.
Justice Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry, Judge of the Supreme Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Justice Chaudhry Khalid Rashid, Judge of the High Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, attended the ceremony as special guests.
A large number of lawyers from the District Bar Association Mirpur were also present. Laeeq Aamir, son of the late Zafar Hussain Mirza and a distinguished lawyer, attended the condolence reference.
Former President of the Supreme Court Bar Association Raja Inamullah Khan, President of the District Bar Association Babar Ali Khan and other lawyers paid tribute to Zafar Hussain Mirza for his political, social and legal services.
Speakers said the deceased devoted his life to upholding the rule of law, ensuring justice and contributing to society. They praised his character, principled approach, dignity and valuable services in the legal field, saying his contributions would always be remembered with respect and honour.
The ceremony concluded with a collective prayer for the forgiveness of the deceased and his elevation to a high place in heaven.
