An overnight air attack in Ukraine’s Kyiv region damaged one of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) main warehouses, a WHO spokesperson said Friday.
Christian Lindmeier told reporters in Geneva that the warehouse stored medical supplies intended for humanitarian needs. Access to the site remains restricted because of heavy smoke and safety concerns, while assessments of damage and stock losses are underway.
No WHO personnel were affected, Lindmeier said.
The incident was the third attack affecting a warehouse used by WHO in Ukraine in three months. Two weeks earlier, an attack destroyed a WHO humanitarian warehouse in Dnipro, resulting in the loss of half the medical supplies and equipment intended to support an estimated 225,000 people in frontline and hard-to-reach areas.
Another WHO warehouse in the Kyiv region was damaged during large-scale attacks on Kyiv and surrounding areas in July.
Lindmeier said at least 20 attacks have affected warehouses storing humanitarian supplies across Ukraine in 2026, including 15 facilities holding health-related supplies.
WHO has arranged alternative storage and is assessing damaged supplies and replacement needs.
