MIRPUR (AJK): Feb. 11: The 49th martyrdom anniversary of a great lagend of AJK police Mohammad Yasin Khan, ex DIG of AJK Police, was observed with due solemnity and reverencebon Tuesday in simple but impressive manner.
This great and highly-talented personality Muhammad Yasin Khan, having the distinguished career being a seasoned and most intelligent police officer of AJK Police Service, lost his life during the performance of his official duties at the quite young age of 43 – in a fatal road accident at Rawat, on way back to Mirpur from Rawalpindi after attending an official meeting at Poonch House, (then Rawalpindi-based Camp Office of the AJK government) this day on February 11, 1976.
Speakers at a special prayer meeting at his mosoleum in Sialkot as well as in Mirpur on Tuesday, held to mark the anniversary, paid rich tributes to the departed legendary officer of Azad Jammu & Kashmir police who attained the distinctions through successful investigations into various cases of local, national and international repute because of his exceptional and full command on the professional intellect, of the chief investigating officer, on the part of the AJK police to probe into the cases including the famous hijacking case of an Indian airliner “GANGA” in 1971 to Lahore.
Speakers including veteran Kashmiri leader and PPP (Shaheed Bhutto) AJK Chapter President Ch. Muneer Hussain Advocat, senior journalists Sohrab Ahmed Khan, rights activists Khawaja Shahid Iqbal, Academician and Director Mirpur campus of IIUI Schools Atiq ul Amin Khan, Convener KashmirFree MediaAssociation( (JKFMA) and Sr. Kashmiri Journalist A.H.Rao, Retired Secretary Transport AJK Govt Adil Mahmood Khan and others said that the meritorious life-long meritorious services to the masses extended by the departed Muhammad Yasin Khan in various positions in AJK police in differeny parts of AJK would always be remembered and which stand as ever-lasting source of inspiration and guidance for the serving and upcoming police personnel, they added.
The participants prayed for the up gradation of the status of the martyr’s soul in heaven. They reiterated resolve to follow the foot steps for serving the sick humanity in their respective positions for overall betterment of the society in Kashmir.
