Colombo, May 09 (QNA) – A military helicopter crashed into a reservoir in Sri Lanka on Friday, killing six armed forces personnel.
According to the Ministry of Defense, a Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter crashed into the Maduru Oya reservoir in the north-central region.
The helicopter was en route to perform a demonstration at a passing-out parade for the Army’s Special Forces Brigade.
Six other personnel were injured in the incident.
Friday’s crash marks the worst accident for the Sri Lanka Air Force since 2020, when a Chinese-built Y-12 aircraft crashed in Haputale, killing all four crew members on board.
