MIRPUR (AJK): July 4 : Six persons, including 05 women, belonging to a family were killed when a car veered off the main highway and plunged thousands of feet deep into the Neelum River in Neelum Valley district of Azad Jammu Kashmir Friday afternoon, police said.
Neelam valley Police Control Room Incharge Officer told our Special Jammu Kashmir state Correspondent Altaf Hamid Rao over telephone that the ill-fated family, hailing from Muzaffarabad airport locality, aboard the car (3725-B) was on way from Muzaffarabad to Neelum Valley, when the vehicle skidded off the road near Marbel Checkpost Chaliayna and plunged into thousands of feet down into the Neelum River.
The only male victim of the tregic mishap was identified as Ameer Khan son of Muhammad Yasin Khan , resident of Taandaa Bootha, Muzaffarabad after all bodies were recovered from the river by the rescue teams of 1122 and the local police, and shifted to Muzaffarabad, the PCR officer said.
Earlier Police and rescue teams, along with the assistance of local residents, promptly launched the rescue operation rushing the site to recover the bodies
