MIRPUR (AJK): Sept. 12: AJK Police here on Thursday picked former AJK Minister for Transport Tahir Khokhar, belonging to Mutahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) in a dishonored-cheque case, registered in Mirpur city Police Station this morning, police said.
Our Special Jammu and Kashmir state Correspondent Altaf Hamid Rao reports from Nirpur that the police took the action in the case registered on Thursday (today) under Section APC~ 489~F, on the FIR lodged with the city police station by the State through one Arshad Mahmood son of Soabat Ali, R/O Potha Bangash, tehsil Dadayal of Mirpur AJK district, who alleged that a Cheque No. 65487254 for Rs. 12 Hundred Thousand (Rs. Twelve lakh) of the account with JS Bank, issued by the accused Tahir Khokhar, resident of Sector B~3, Mirpur, was dishonoured by the bank for lack of due money in the account after he deposited the cheque in his (applicant Arshad Mahmood ) ABL account for clearance from the JS Bank ~ which was dishonoured.
The applicant Arshad Mahmood asserted in his FIR that Tahir Khokhar had allegedly borrowed the Rs. 12 lakh money for a week time period following unavoidable domestic circumstances. He further stated that despite multiple reminders in form of legal notices, Khokher declined to return the above mentioned money which he had allegedly borrowed.
The police nabbed the former minister and ex Parliamentary leader of MQM in AJK Legislative Assembly in the past Tahir Khokhar from Central Shaheed chowk where he was reportedly engaged in routine daily life.
Police started further investigations after he was shifted to the area’s Thothal Police Station soon after the arrest of the accused former Minister of AzadcJammu Kashmir government.
