Toastmasters District 116 Hosts Successful Mega Open House for Corporate and Community Leaders

Doha, Qatar – 5th October 2024

 Toastmasters District 116, Qatar recently hosted a highly successful Mega Open House event, attended by more than 90 prominent leaders from various sectors.

The event was conducted under the able leadership of District Director Sabeena M K, DTM, and showcased the collaborative efforts of the District 116 team to spread Toastmasters’ message across Qatar. This initiative reached corporate leaders, community groups, and untapped areas, promoting awareness of how Toastmasters can help shape the next generation of leaders.

Program Quality Director Alarmel Mangai, DTM, underscored the importance of the District’s mission, focusing on empowering individuals to become more effective communicators and leaders.

 The event was headlined by Jennifer Helen Ghosh, DTM, Region 8 Advisor, who presented the wide-ranging benefits of Toastmasters, emphasizing how the organization helps individuals develop communication and leadership skills that contribute to personal and professional growth.

 The Mega Open House featured testimonials from corporate and community leaders who shared their experiences with Toastmasters. Mohamed Eraky, Manager of National Development at Qatar Airways, reflected on how Toastmasters transformed his communication skills, stating, “Toastmasters has been a game changer for me, significantly improving my communication abilities and giving me the confidence to excel in my professional role.” His story highlighted the practical benefits of Toastmasters in fostering career advancement.

 Yasir Nainar, President of DPS School and former Ooredoo executive, spoke about the transformation he witnessed in a club member who struggled with basic communication skills but has since become a confident educator. “Seeing this journey firsthand was a testament to the power of Toastmasters in changing lives,” said Nainar.

 Other prominent attendees included Suhas Rogiye, Head of Department for Strategy & Corporate Performance at Doha Bank, who shared how Toastmasters has benefited the employees at his organization, and TM Subramanya Hebbagelu, President of Galfar Toastmasters and a leader at Galfar Al Misned Construction & Engineering. Rihan, Deputy Manager for Audit & Assurance at KPMG, Shaheen Backer, Managing Director of Safari Group, and Madhu Uppal, Vice Principal of DPS Monarch International School, also took part in the event, providing their perspectives on how Toastmasters has supported leadership development within their organizations.

 DTM Sonny Varghese, Past Region 11 Advisor and the Founder of Toastmasters in Qatar, was also present, sharing insights from his extensive experience in building the Toastmasters community in the region. TM Nahar Al Muttawa, DTAC Chair 2019, and DTM Anil Nair, Past Division Director, further emphasized the positive impact Toastmasters has had on their personal leadership journeys.

 The event was capped off with remarks by District leaders. Club Growth Director Sherwin Olimpo, DTM, delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, appreciating the engagement of the corporate and community leaders.
