Qatar, Doha, October 5, 2024: UK-based SRAM & MRAM Group, in collaboration with Big B Corporation and KAZIND Medical Group of Kazakhstan, is set to develop the largest private healthcare platform in Astana and Almaty, Kazakhstan. With 243 hectares allocated by the Government in Astana and 100 hectares in Almaty, these projects will be pioneering in Central Asia. The partnership aims to establish the region’s largest medical university, complemented by a hospital, providing world-class medical and paramedical education to students from around the globe. This initiative not only aspires to enhance the healthcare landscape in Kazakhstan but also focuses on job creation and substantial revenue generation for the local economy.

Medical education in Kazakhstan has seen significant growth over the past decade. Historically influenced by Soviet-era, discipline-based, and teacher-centered systems, the curriculum was largely traditional, relying heavily on lectures with minimal use of e-learning tools. Assessments were primarily conducted through oral exams and multiple-choice questions. While many universities continue to maintain a subject-based curriculum, there has been a gradual incorporation of integrated learning elements.

Project Highlights:

  • Medical College: Establishing a premier institution for advanced medical education and training accommodating 10,000 students.
  • Multi-Specialty Hospital: Creating a state-of-the-art facility offering comprehensive healthcare services across various specialties, with a capacity of 1,000 beds.
  • Five-Star Hotel: Developing luxurious accommodations with 500 beds to support medical tourism and enhance the overall patient experience.

The Group is committed to offering affordable, high-quality medical education globally. Through advanced technology-based learning, SRAM & Big B will equip students with practical skills and hands-on experience. This initiative provides a golden opportunity for Asian families aspiring to have doctors in their midst, helping students pursue rewarding medical careers in Kazakhstan’s MBBS programs.

Dr. Sailesh Lachu Hiranandani, Chairman of SRAM & MRAM Group, envisions combining traditional teaching with modern e-learning to create a more interactive and dynamic educational approach. His goal is to transform the system by integrating problem-based learning, team collaboration, and virtual patient cases for a more engaging and practical experience.

“SRAM and BIG B aims to enhance medical education with a comprehensive, up-to-date curriculum approved by relevant ministries. Their goal is to lead medical education in Central Asia and expand to other countries, thus internationalizing the region’s medical education.”, added Dr Hiranandani.

Ajay Bhandari, Director of BIG B Corporation and KAZIND Medical Group, emphasized Kazakhstan’s healthcare advancements, contributing 2.9% to GDP. The government is focused on expanding primary healthcare, training personnel, and upgrading public health systems. With a USD 5.4 billion budget, plans include building 19 new hospitals and upgrading 50% of bed capacity through Public-Private Partnerships or a Design, Build, Operate, and Maintain model.

Mahendra Joshi, Director of SRAM & MRAM Group, advocates Kazakhstan as a rising medical tourism hub. Its universities, known for international standards and updated curricula, offer diverse cultural experiences through partnerships with foreign institutions. Kazakhstan is increasingly appealing to aspiring medical professionals, providing prestigious certifications at competitive rates.
