Multan: Pakistan’s Sajid Khan rattled England’s batting lineup with three quick wickets, leaving the visitors at 239-6 at the end of Day 2 of the second Test on Wednesday. England, chasing Pakistan’s first-innings 366, had been in a comfortable position at 211-2 before Sajid’s late burst.

Sajid removed Joe Root (34), Ben Duckett (114), and Harry Brook (9) in just 10 deliveries. Noman Ali also struck, dismissing England captain Ben Stokes for 1, as England lost four wickets for 14 runs.

At stumps, Jamie Smith and Brydon Carse were unbeaten on 12 and 2, respectively. With the pitch offering significant spin, Pakistan will be aiming for a decisive first-innings lead to level the series after England’s innings victory in the first Test.

Sajid finished with figures of 4-86, while Noman Ali took 2-75. Duckett’s aggressive 114 included 16 boundaries, helping him cross 2,000 Test runs. He built solid partnerships with Zak Crawley (27), Ollie Pope (29), and Root, but his dismissal to a sharp catch by Salman Agha off Sajid turned the momentum.

Earlier, Pakistan’s lower order added 107 runs, with Jamal and Noman putting on 49 for the ninth wicket. Brydon Carse took 3-50, while Jack Leach claimed 4-114.

With England trailing by 127 runs, the hosts are well-positioned to push for a series-levelling win in Multan.
