President’s debt relief initiative faces challenges from Republican opposition
WASHINGTON, Oct 17 (Agencies) – U.S. President Joe Biden announced the cancellation of another $4.5 billion in student loans, benefiting over 60,000 borrowers. This recent action brings the total number of public service workers who have received loan forgiveness to more than 1 million.
This decision aligns with Biden’s commitment to provide debt relief to millions of Americans, a key promise from his 2020 campaign. However, these initiatives have faced significant hurdles in the courts, posing challenges to the administration’s efforts to deliver on this pledge before he concludes his term in January.
