Kashmir-born British City Mayor seeks early establishment of Overseas Pakistanis, Kashmiris desks in major cities including in AJK:

MIRPUR ( AJK): October 18: Kashmir-origin Mayor of British town of Keighley Chaudhry Gulfraz Hussain here on Friday called upon the government to establish special desks for overseas Pakistanis including Kashmiris in major cities of Pakistan and AJK to solve the problems of immigrants in minimum possible time.

He was talking to journalists during visit to Kashmir Press Club Mirpur-AJK here late Friday where he also felicitated newly elected Press Club President Syed Abid Hussain Shah and other office bearers for their land slide victory by having g been elected unopposed.

The British Mayor said that since the UK based Pakistani and Kashmiri Diaspora community was performing as the Unofficial Ambassador of their ancestral country by raising the high image of the motherland in the western world besides their heavy contribution in form of foreign exchange remittance of billions of rupees.

Gulfraz continued that the problems faced by Pakistani, Kashmiri immigrants settled in variouscountries including UK were required to be addressed on a priority basis in a timely manner through the proposed overseas Pakistanis including Kashmiri Diaspora community desks in major cities of the country besides Azad Jammu Kashmir, he urged.

The British Keighly Town Mayor, while lauding the healthy role of the media for uplift of the nation and the country, said that journalists were the main pillar of the society who provide a platform to the people by identifying their problems.

He said that the hearts of the immigrants beat with their homeland. He was accompanied by Councilor Chaudhry Ibrahim, Chaudhry Asim Gulfraz and Chaudhry Waqar Gul Nawaz of the Britain’s Keighly Borough Council.

He said that Pakistani and Kashmiri Diaspora community was performing an active role in the social and political circles in United Kingdom through their high vision and vibrant role in all spheres of life in today’s Great Britain. He said while responding to question that five to six Pakistan and Kashmir born overseas persons were,elected as Mayors of various cities and towns of United Kingdom besides over 07 of the elected members of the British Parliament in the recent general elections in the country.

Gulfraz, formerly Deputy Mayor of the same Keighly town besides a working journalist in the past, said that he always thank Allah, the Almighty that he secured great success in politics in a short span of time in United Kingdom securing the Mayor office in recent elections, which, he added, was a great honor for him” .

He said that he also feels proud that he also remained associated with the field of journalism in same Keighly town for quite some time serving a media houseof Azad Jammu Kashmir.

Kashmir Electronic Media Association President Nasir Rafique presented memorial shield to the British Mayor on behalf of his organisation the KEMA. Senior Kashmiri Journalist and Supreme Head KEMA Altaf Hamid Rao, KPC President Syed Abid Hussain Shah and other electronic media men were,also present on this occasion.
