PTI will undo ‘unconstitutional’ amendments once in power: Barrister Saif

Barrister Muhammad Ali Khan Saif, the Information Advisor of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, has stated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will abolish c’ontroversial unconstitutional’ amendments once it comes to power.Barrister Saif stated that the constitutional amendments were passed through ‘serious crimes such as abductions, violations of the sanctity of homes, and the dishonoring of mothers and sisters.’ Barrister Saif said, “The fake government carried out abductions and attacked the Supreme Court under the cover of darkness. The process of amendments itself is screaming that the constitution has been stabbed in the back. These hurried amendments were aimed at avoiding the implementation of the Supreme Court’s decisions.”He added, “Once the PTI comes to power, we will abolish the controversial unconstitutional amendments. PTI’s struggle will only intensify after these amendments. Those who voted in favour of these unconstitutional changes will never be forgiven by history. Those who supported these unconstitutional amendments will not escape the public’s wrath.””In the upcoming elections, the people will neither vote for them nor will they receive Form 47. PTI’s firm stance against these controversial amendments will be remembered in history in golden letters,” he further stated.Barrister Saif said, “The entire nation pays tribute to PTI’s parliamentarians who have stood firm against fascism. Those who betrayed Imran Khan are traitors, and the nation curses them. History will never forgive these traitors.”He concluded, “We all saw the fate of those who betrayed Imran Khan in the last election. I appeal to the legal community to join PTI in the decisive battle against these unconstitutional amendments and to ensure these controversial changes are brought to their rightful conclusion.”Previously, the PTI decided to boycott the voting process for the 26th Constitutional Amendments in both the National Assembly and Senate. This decision was made following a meeting of the party’s political committee.In a statement, PTI criticised the process as “non-transparent” and “controversial,” announcing a full boycott of the vote. The party argued that the current regime lacks the moral, democratic, and constitutional authority to amend the constitution, accusing the ruling coalition of undermining democracy by imposing what it called the “law of the jungle.”Meanhile, President Asif Ali Zardari earlier during the day officially ratified the 26th Constitutional Amendment.The amendment, which was passed with a two-thirds majority by both the Senate and the National Assembly, is now an Act of Parliament and has become law across Pakistan.The 26th amendment is now fully integrated into the country’s legal framework following its publication in the official gazette.Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had submitted advice to President Zardari for final approval after the bill successfully passed through both houses of Parliament. The prime minister signed off on the amendment before sending it to the president for ratification.
