New Zealand completes historic 3-0 Series Sweep over India in Mumbai

New Zealand capped off a stunning Test series by defeating India by 25 runs in Mumbai, achieving an unprecedented 3-0 series sweep on Indian soil. On a challenging Wankhede Stadium pitch, the Black Caps bowled India out for 121 on the third day, marking the first time India has been blanked at home since 2000.
Despite an early fightback led by Rishabh Pant’s gritty 64, India’s batting lineup struggled, collapsing from 29-5. Ajaz Patel was instrumental in dismantling India’s batting order, taking 6-57 in the second innings, following his five-wicket haul in the first innings.
India’s batting woes were evident as captain Rohit Sharma, along with Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli, fell cheaply to Patel’s skilled spin. Ravindra Jadeja and Pant provided brief resistance with a 42-run partnership, but a crucial catch by Will Young and Patel’s relentless bowling sealed India’s fate.
This landmark series victory ended India’s 18-series winning streak at home, a record dating back to 2012. New Zealand’s victories in Bengaluru and Pune set the tone for this historic triumph, marking their first Test series win in India since 1955 and underscoring a powerful performance against one of cricket’s toughest home teams.
