Pakistan set to host England, New Zealand, and Zimbabwe in Groundbreaking Women’s Cricket Tours

Lahore, 4 November 2024: In a historic development, Pakistan will host the England, New Zealand, and Zimbabwe women’s cricket teams for the first time as part of the ICC’s newly announced Future Tours Programme (FTP) for 2025-29. Zimbabwe is scheduled to tour Pakistan in April-May 2026, New Zealand in April 2027, and England in October of the same year.

These tours are part of the fourth cycle of the ICC Women’s Championship, running from 2026 to 2029, with 11 teams competing for direct qualification to the 2029 ICC Women’s 50-over World Cup. Notably, Zimbabwe will make its debut in this competition. Each participating team will play eight others across 44 series, comprising a total of 132 ODIs, with a balanced mix of four home and four away series.

In addition to Zimbabwe, New Zealand, and England, Pakistan will welcome the Bangladesh women’s team in October 2028. For its away series, Pakistan will travel to South Africa in February 2026, Sri Lanka in July 2026, the West Indies in November 2026, and Ireland in June 2028.

The ICC’s FTP also introduces an annual women’s tournament schedule starting with the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in India in 2025, followed by the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England in 2026, the inaugural ICC Women’s Champions Trophy in 2027, and the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in 2028. In preparation for these ICC events, teams have scheduled tri-series tournaments, including one hosted by Ireland with Pakistan and West Indies ahead of the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup in England.

Away Series for Pakistan

  • South Africa: February 2026
  • Sri Lanka: July 2026
  • West Indies: November 2026

These tours represent a milestone for Pakistan in expanding its role in women’s international cricket, highlighting the country’s commitment to growing the sport on the global stage.
