MIRPUR ( AJK): November 12: State-run Special Communications Organization (SCO) Mirpur Division Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Adeel Malik has said ” SCO is taking revolutionary steps to promote information technology in the region ensuring data accessible for better public services delivery in Pakistan’s IT sector.
“Indicating its important role in economic development, the SCO is committed to innovation in the IT sector to promote digital transition and economic growth”, he said while talking to the media here on Tuesday.
The SCO Divisional Commander continued that Information technology plays an important role in sustainable economic development in this era.
“SCO, on the vision of Chief of Army Staff and on special instructions of Director General SCO Major General Umar Ahmad Shah, has promoted the development of information technology in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan with prime focus to promote the IT knowledge among the young generation.
It is worthwhile to mention here that the Special Communications Organization was striving hard to its full potential on the mission of establishing a software technology park and freelancing hub at district tehsil and union council level equipped with modern international standard facilities to harness IT capabilities.
At present, about 50 SCO software technology parks and freelancing hubs are working successfully in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, established in a short period of time, where thousands of young men and women students living in these areas have received training.
Playing an important role in the development of the country, the Commanding Officer SCO further said that by the end of this financial year, more SCO software technology parks and freelancing hubs are being established in Mirpur Division at STP in Bhimbar district and Khairwal. FLHs are fully ready and will be inaugurated soon, two more new STPs in Mirpur city and one more STP in Tehsil Didyal and Kotli district are also under completion.l, he added.
Kahmir Orphan Relief Trust (KORT ), Soth Asia’s largest rehabilitation and Educational Complex housong hundreds of orphan and shelterless children, in Mirpur, besides towns of Afzalpur Islamgazh, Panjiri tehsil Samahini Barnala in Bhambar district and Nad Sahansa Tatta Pani Khoerta Karila Mujahan and Nikyal in Kotli district are prepared to establish freelancing hubs, after completion of which 100% areas of Mirpur division will be connected through the swift mean of modern technology, InshaAllah, he revealed.
Colonel Adeel Malik said that the purpose of all these facilities was to make the young generation of Azad Jammu Kashmir region self-sufficient and empowered, which will not only bring unmployment issue to permanent ended, but the the entire country Pakistan will be economically greater too, he underlined.
“Since online business freelancing and digital marketing are the most important needs of all times, new employment opportunities will be available to the youth following the prmotion of the IT sector with a rapid growth”, he said adding that the young generation will, indeed, compete with the world following their full command in the knowledge about IT studies.
The SCO Mirpur division CO further said that the provision of such advanced facilities was a major achievement of SCO in the region. “Despite the financial difficulties, SCO was trying its best to strengthen and stabilize its youth within the available resources” .
“All requisite opportunities are coming in the fold of the SCO, a prestigious and organized institution of Pakistan, engaged day and night for the socio-economic progress and prosperity, integrity and stability of the country through the promotion of latest IT-based telecommunication sector in the areas in its domain including AJK and GB”, he concluded.
