Turkish Foreign Minister: Turkiye places great importance on Syria’s unity, Sovereignty, territorial integrity

Doha, December 08 (QNA) – HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkiye Hakan Fidan stressed that Turkiye will not hesitate to support the Syrian people and work towards stability and security in Syria.

He also stated that the Syrian people will now decide their own future.

In a press conference held today in Doha, His Excellency added that Turkey attaches great importance to the national unity, stability, sovereignty, territorial integrity of Syria, and the well-being of the Syrian people.

He also stated that, as a result, millions of Syrians who were forced to leave their homes can return to their lands.

His Excellency called for regional and international cooperation to support the Syrian people in achieving stability, construction, and reconstruction.

He emphasized that the Syrian people cannot rebuild on their own and that both regional and international actors must act wisely and cautiously, avoiding any steps that could undermine stability.

He continued, stating that the new administration must be formed in an orderly manner, and that the time has come for solidarity and the rebuilding of the country.

He emphasized that the unity of Syrian territories must be the foundation, and caution must be exercised during the transitional period.

He stressed the importance of preserving state institutions and unifying opposition groups, pledging that Turkiye would continue to work towards stability and security in Syria.

He called for equal treatment of minorities and emphasized that the new Syrian administration should be inclusive, with no room for revenge.

He also expressed appreciation for the proposals put forward by countries involved in the Syrian issue during yesterday’s meetings in Doha.

He noted that the key priority is to reassure regional countries that the new administration will not pose a threat to its neighbors, but instead focus on resolving existing issues and eliminating threats.
