MIRPUR ( AJK): January 9 : Distinguished Senior officer of Azad Jammu Kashmir Police Raja Irfan Salim, (Tamgha e Imtiyaz), on Wednesday took the charge of office as Senior Superintendent of Police of AJK’s Metropolis – Muzaffarabad, official sources said.
He was posted as SSP Muzaffarabad on Monday by the State government.
He earlier held the office as SSP Mirpur-AJK, Kotli and various other districts besides serving as Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) in the State’s capital.
SSP Raja Irfan Saleem has long distinguished career in AJK Police since 1990.
Our Special Jammu and Kashmir state Correspondent Altaf Hamid Rao reports from Mirpur that Irfan Salim emerged as the only seasoned senior officer of AJK Police Service who was conferred national civil Award ‘ ‘Tamgh e Imtiaz’ last year in recognition of his outstanding performance through high professional skills during his long service period spanning over 32 years so far.
The highly professionally skilled AJK Police Officer SSP Raja Irfan Salim is the only officer of AJK Police amongst those highly talented personalities from various fields of life from across the country, who were conferred talent awards including Pakistan Civil Award – ‘Tamgha e Imtiaz’, on behalf of the President of Pakistan, at the awards at national awards distribution ceremony hosted on the eve of Pakistan Day in acknowledgement of his high professional skills, talent and abilities during performance of his professional duties.
It may be added that SSP Raja Irfan Salim is reportedly the only officer of Azad Jammu Kashmir police who was conferred the civil award ‘Tamgha e Imtiyaz ‘ for first time, from Azad Jammu Kashmir so far on the eve of the Independent Day of Pakistan for showing excellence and courage during the course of his professional duties through the best of his abilities and skills.
It may be added, that Raja Irfan Salim, the holder of over a hundred of various awards and certificates of excellence, confferred in acknowledgement of his long distinguished career and high professional skills as a seasoned AJK police, has so far been conferred the departmental highest Quaid-e-Azam Police Medal (QPM) award with cash of Rs. 0.3 million – year 2015, three Presidential Police Medals (PPM) with cash awards of Rs. 0.2 million each in in 1993, 2015 and 2016, Gold Medals in year 2011 and 2016 by National Social Association and Mirpur Civil Society, Rs. 1.2 million cash awards since 2009 by Governments of Punjab and Azad Jammu Kashmir.
He has also distinction to participate in all professional training courses, heading a delegation of AJK police officer held in January 2000 in the United Kingdom besides identical professional training programs in United States besides participating in identical professional training programs held at regional, national and international levels.
Government of Pakistan had announced on August 14, last year to conffer ‘Tamgha e Imtiaz’ the national award to Azad Jammu Kashmir’s (AJK) Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Raja Irfan Saleem.
Besides series of his successful professional adventures, SSP Raja Irfan had caught a gang who had stolen from foreign British families in the recent past.
A British Kashmiri Sabir Mughal was kidnapped from Mirpur. The abductors had received a ransom of £223,000 in Britain for Sabir’s release from their custody. SSP Raja Irfan not only apprehended the accused but also rushed to England and recovered the ransom money with the help of the Interpol – British police.
