Nara, /Dunyo IA/– A “corner of Samarkand” has been established near the administrative building of Nara Prefecture, Japan, through the efforts of Uzbekistan’s Embassy, reports Dunyo IA.
Supported by the Nara Prefectural Government, the project aims to strengthen cooperation between the regions and promote Uzbekistan’s tourism. The display, located near the popular Nara Park—which welcomed approximately 18 million visitors in 2024—features banners in Japanese, tourism handbooks, and Uzbek national handicrafts.
“This corner highlights the ties between Nara and Samarkand, offering locals and tourists insights into Samarkand’s tourism and cultural heritage,” said Tatsuya Hitomi, Head of Nara Prefecture’s International Cooperation Department. “Its location, near key tourist attractions, ensures both residents and international visitors can learn about Uzbekistan’s rich traditions.”
The initiative enhances cultural exchange, underscoring the historic and modern connections between Japan and Uzbekistan, while spotlighting Samarkand’s vibrant tourism and craftsmanship
