Doha, January 23 (QNA) – Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation (QF), attended QF’s International Day of Education event under the theme “Education is Everyone’s Responsibility” at the Qatar National Convention Center.
The opening session, titled “Protecting the Arabic Language is a Social Responsibility,” was graced by HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan of Jordan, HE Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al-Thani, and HE Bahia Hariri, alongside ministers and dignitaries. Panelists included education experts such as Hadeel Al Abbasi, Dr. Laila Familiar, Amal Farah, and Sheikha Noof Ahmed Al-Thani, who explored innovative strategies to promote the Arabic language’s influence in education and society.
Sheikha Noof announced the ‘Rasekh’ initiative, a strategic partnership between QF and Qatar’s Ministry of Education and Higher Education to integrate Arabic language education into international curricula. The initiative aims to create advanced resources for educators, enhancing students’ cultural and linguistic identity while balancing global and local perspectives.
The event also marked the launch of the “Let’s Speak Arabic” campaign, aimed at integrating Arabic into daily lives and strengthening its role as a cultural cornerstone. Maryam Al Hajri, Director of Partnerships at QF’s Pre-University Education, emphasized the collaboration needed among schools, teachers, and parents to nurture students’ confidence and pride in their linguistic heritage.
Activities throughout the day included workshops, discussions, and an exhibition showcasing innovative educational projects. The Education Development Institute hosted sessions on bilingual education and the integration of local and global perspectives, highlighting education as a shared responsibility and fundamental human right.
