Qatar Amir meets President of Syria in Damascus

Damascus, January 30 (QNA) – HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani met with HE President of the Syrian Arab Republic Ahmed Al Sharaa at the People’s Palace in Damascus.
HH the Amir congratulated HE the Syrian President on the victory of the Syrian revolution and his appointment as President of the transitional period. He reaffirmed Qatar’s support for Syria’s unity, sovereignty, and independence, commending the new administration’s efforts to restore stability, safeguard national resources, and meet the people’s needs.
Emphasizing the importance of an inclusive government representing all segments of Syrian society, HH the Amir stressed the necessity of moving forward with reconstruction, development, and prosperity. He assured continued Qatari support for Syria in achieving unity, justice, and freedom.
HE the Syrian President welcomed HH the Amir’s visit, recognizing Qatar’s steadfast support for Syria and its commitment to strengthening bilateral ties. He highlighted Syria’s interest in strategic cooperation with Qatar, particularly in benefiting from its experience in achieving national progress.
The meeting covered developments in Syria and explored ways to enhance cooperation in various sectors. The two leaders also discussed key regional and international issues of mutual concern.
Attending the meeting were senior Qatari officials, including HE Chief of the Amiri Diwan Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khulaifi, HE Minister of Finance Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, HE Minister of Education and Higher Education Lolwah bint Rashid bin Mohammed Al Khater, and HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi.
On the Syrian side, HE Prime Minister Mohammed Al Bashir, HE Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Asaad Al Shaibani, and HE Minister of Defense Murhaf Abu Qasra were present.
Earlier, HH the Amir and HE the Syrian President held a bilateral meeting focused on strengthening ties. HH the Amir also attended a luncheon banquet hosted in his honor.
