Four Palestinians were killed by Israeli army fire in Gaza on Sunday, despite an ongoing ceasefire agreement.
According to a medical source, three of the victims were transferred to the Baptist Hospital in Gaza City after Israeli forces opened fire on a group of Palestinians east of the city. Witnesses reported that the group was returning to their areas near the Kuwait Roundabout, east of Gaza City, after Israeli forces withdrew from the Netzarim Corridor.
An elderly woman was also killed by Israeli gunfire in Al-Qarara, east of Khan Younis in southern Gaza. The Israeli army confirmed that its forces opened fire on what they described as “suspects” approaching their location near Nahal Oz.
The deaths occurred despite the ceasefire, which has been in place since January 19 and followed months of Israeli military actions that resulted in nearly 48,200 deaths in Gaza. The ceasefire was intended to halt Israel’s ongoing attacks, which have caused widespread devastation across the enclave.
The International Criminal Court had issued arrest warrants in November for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, accusing them of war crimes and crimes against humanity related to the conflict.
