Cairo, February 28 (QNA) – The Arab League has affirmed that the Lebanese Parliament’s vote of confidence in Prime Minister Nawaf Salam’s government marks an important step towards a new phase that meets the aspirations of the Lebanese people.
In a statement on Friday, Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit congratulated Nawaf Salam on his government’s confidence vote, wishing him success in implementing the reforms and goals outlined in the ministerial statement.
Aboul Gheit noted that the new Lebanese government’s confidence vote comes after a difficult period for Lebanon in recent years, which hindered the implementation of essential reforms and prevented the country from recovering.
The Lebanese government, led by Nawaf Salam, received the confidence of the Lebanese Parliament on Wednesday, with 95 out of 128 members voting in favor, 12 voting against, and 4 abstaining. The Strong Lebanon Bloc withheld its confidence from the government.
