US President Donald Trump has issued a stern “last warning” to Hamas, demanding the immediate release of all hostages held in Gaza. In a strong statement posted on his Truth Social platform, Trump declared, “I am sending Israel everything it needs to finish the job,” adding that not a single Hamas member would be safe if the hostages were not freed. He further warned Hamas leadership to leave Gaza while they still could, threatening dire consequences for both the captives and their captors.
The White House confirmed that the US is engaging in direct negotiations with Hamas, a significant shift in policy as Washington has historically avoided direct contact with groups labeled as terrorist organizations. The talks aim to secure the release of hostages, including five US citizens, among the 59 people still being held in Gaza, with at least 24 of them believed to be alive.
Trump’s statement came after a meeting with recently released hostages, following a ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas. However, his aggressive rhetoric has raised concerns, with Hamas accusing him of encouraging Israel to violate the ceasefire. Spokesman Hazem Qassem stated that Trump’s threats complicate the situation and may hinder the terms of the ceasefire agreement.
This latest development follows the October 7th attack by Hamas on Israel, which resulted in the deaths of over 1,200 people and the capture of 251 hostages. Since then, Israeli airstrikes on Gaza have claimed over 48,000 lives. The hostage situation remains critical, with diplomatic efforts underway to bring an end to the conflict and secure the captives’ freedom.
