Geneva, March 15 (QNA) – The Chairperson of the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC), Maryam bint Abdullah Al Attiyah, has affirmed that the State of Qatar gives top priority to children’s rights, highlighting that through the NHRC’s monitoring of the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, along with the State of Qatar’s ratified protocols, Qatar has ensured equal access to education and the highest standards of healthcare for children and adolescents.
During her participation in the discussions on children’s rights at the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, Her Excellency emphasized that NHRC is committed to constantly raising the awareness about the promotion of child rights, noting the great attention NHRC pays to raising awareness about the need for protecting children’s rights in the digital environment.
HE Al Attiyah underlined that the NHRC showcased this interest by holding the third national forum in Doha last year under the theme “Protecting Children’s Rights in a Safe Digital Environment: Challenges and Prospects for Empowerment and Protection.” She pointed out that the forum’s recommendations revolved around the task of training all national departments and authorities on protecting children in digital environments.
Her Excellency added that, stemming from this role, the NHRC extends its hands to all international organizations and civil society organizations that support training in the child protection domain within digital environments, so as to capitalize on experiences
