Doha hosted the “China in Springtime: Sharing Opportunities with the World” Global Dialogue on March 19, organized by China Media Group (CMG). The event brought together nearly 100 distinguished guests from political, business, academic, and media sectors to explore China’s high-quality development and its opportunities for Qatar, particularly in technology, trade, and culture.
Shen Haixiong, Vice Minister of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and President of CMG, delivered a video address, emphasizing China’s unwavering commitment to global engagement. He highlighted President Xi Jinping’s remarks during China’s Two Sessions, stressing the importance of expanding institutional openness and international cooperation. He noted that China’s progress is deeply connected to the world, and that collaboration is essential for addressing global challenges, ensuring stability, and fostering long-term economic growth.
Chinese Ambassador to Qatar, Cao Xiaolin, reaffirmed China’s role as a key partner in global development, emphasizing that under the strategic leadership of both nations, China-Qatar relations have entered a “golden period” over the past decade. Political trust has deepened, economic partnerships have expanded, and cultural exchanges have flourished, bringing tangible benefits to both countries. He reiterated China’s commitment to high-level openness and shared prosperity, highlighting Qatar’s role as a vital partner in China’s engagement with the Middle East.
The dialogue featured comprehensive discussions on emerging trends, including artificial intelligence, technological advancements, trade cooperation, and cultural exchange. Participants explored how China’s expertise in AI and digital innovation can contribute to Qatar’s economic transformation, supporting its Vision 2030 goals. Industry experts also discussed the role of “Made in China” technology in enhancing Qatar’s infrastructure, energy, and sustainable development sectors.
A significant highlight of the event was the discussion on deepening cultural ties between the two nations. The establishment of the first panda pavilion in the Middle East in Qatar was celebrated as a symbol of growing friendship, while the upcoming release of “Ne Zha 2” in Qatar was cited as a milestone in cinematic and artistic collaboration. These developments reflect the increasing people-to-people connections and cultural affinity between China and Qatar.
The event also underscored the rising interest in Chinese language and culture among Qatari youth. Several young participants engaged in discussions in fluent Chinese, demonstrating the growing “Chinese language fever” in Qatar. They expressed their enthusiasm for deeper educational and cultural exchanges, viewing the dialogue as a starting point for expanded cooperation in education, research, and entrepreneurship.
Participants expressed optimism that this dialogue will pave the way for even stronger China-Qatar ties, furthering economic collaboration and cultural diplomacy. The event concluded with a shared vision of strengthening youth engagement, ensuring that future generations continue to build on the enduring friendship and strategic partnership between the two nations.
