The United States launched significant airstrikes on Houthi-controlled targets across Yemen on Wednesday, hitting over 50 sites spread across multiple provinces in the north, center, and west of the country, according to Houthi-run al-Masirah TV.
While the Houthis have not disclosed any casualty figures, they have promised to retaliate, warning that these attacks “will not go unanswered.” The Houthi group emphasized that it will continue its assaults on vessels linked to Israel or the U.S. in the region.
In a separate incident on Tuesday, the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported an attack on a vessel approximately 100 nautical miles east of Aden. Armed individuals in multiple small craft pursued the vessel for about two hours and fired shots during the encounter. The crew, however, altered course toward the Yemeni coastline, and the assailants eventually departed. The UKMTO confirmed that all crew members were unharmed, and the vessel proceeded safely to its next destination.
The U.S. airstrikes represent a sharp escalation in the ongoing conflict in Yemen, as tensions continue to rise between the Houthi group and international forces. The situation remains volatile, with continued threats of retaliation from the Houthis against military and civilian targets.
