MOSCOW, April 26 — Russia has completed a military operation to regain full control of the border Kursk region, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced on Saturday. Peskov said the results were reported to President Vladimir Putin, who declared Ukraine’s attack on the Kursk region a complete failure. Putin noted that Ukrainian forces suffered significant losses, which, he said, would impact the entire frontline. He added that the defeat of Ukrainian forces in Kursk paves the way for further Russian advances on other fronts.Meanwhile, Ukraine rejected Moscow’s claims. The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces stated via Telegram that Russia’s announcement does not reflect the real situation on the ground. It said Ukrainian operations are still ongoing in parts of the Kursk region and emphasized that there is no risk of their forces being encircled. The conflicting statements highlight the ongoing intensity and competing narratives surrounding the conflict near the Russia-Ukraine border.
