Cairo, April 30 (QNA) – The State of Qatar participated on Wednesday in a high-level meeting at the permanent representative level at the Arab League, discussing the official launch plan for the Arab Observatory for Women’s Economic Empowerment. The meeting was held at the Arab League General Secretariat in Cairo.
HE Ambassador of Qatar to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League Tariq Ali Faraj Al Ansari chaired Qatar’s delegation to the meeting.
During the meeting, HE Ambassador Al Ansari exchanged views with fellow permanent representatives of Arab countries on various aspects of the UAE’s initiative to launch the Arab Observatory for Women’s Economic Empowerment and enhance the role of women in the Arab economy through their participation in development pathways, aligning with the priorities of the Arab Development Agenda (2023-2028) and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals for 2030.
The meeting included a presentation on the observatory’s system and digital services, which aim to empower women economically, support decision-makers, and provide a digital platform to monitor and analyze women’s participation in the economy. It also highlighted the creation of an accurate database, the development of effective measurement indicators, and the implementation of training programs. The observatory also plans to honor inspiring Arab women through motivational awards, reinforcing their presence in various sectors to achieve sustainable development goals.
This meeting was held in implementation of the decision of the 33rd Arab League Summit, which was convened in Bahrain, based on Resolution No. 18 issued by the Arab Women’s Committee at its 43rd ministerial session, concerning the UAE initiative to launch the Arab Observatory for Women’s Economic Empowerment.
