The death toll in Gaza has exceeded 52,800 as Israeli attacks continue relentlessly since October 2023, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry. In the past 24 hours alone, 19 Palestinians were killed and 81 others injured, bringing the total number of injured to 119,554.
A ministry spokesperson highlighted that many victims remain trapped under rubble and along devastated roads, with rescuers struggling to reach them due to ongoing bombardments. The Israeli military resumed its offensive on Gaza on March 18, shattering a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement established in January. Since the renewed assaults began, 2,720 people have been killed and 7,513 wounded.
The situation has drawn global condemnation, particularly following the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) issuance of arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant last November, accusing them of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Additionally, Israel faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), adding to mounting international pressure.
Humanitarian organizations have called for an immediate ceasefire and unimpeded access for relief efforts to support the injured and displaced. Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts are underway to restore peace and address allegations of human rights violations in the conflict-stricken enclave.
