More than 60 Palestinians, including women and children, were killed on Tuesday in a wave of Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip, according to the official Palestinian news agency, Wafa. The strikes targeted homes, shelters, and schools housing displaced civilians.
The deadliest attacks occurred in central Gaza. Twelve members of the Abu Samra family were killed when their home in Deir al-Balah was bombed. Another 15 people died in an airstrike on the western Nuseirat refugee camp. In northern Gaza, nine were killed in Jabalia refugee camp, with others still missing under rubble, local Al-Aqsa radio reported.
Additional casualties were reported from Israeli airstrikes and shelling in Gaza City and Khan Younis, further intensifying the humanitarian crisis.
On Sunday, Israel launched a broad ground offensive in Gaza. Since the beginning of the war in October 2023, Israel’s military campaign has killed nearly 53,500 Palestinians most of them women and children.
International legal bodies have taken notice. The International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants last November for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, citing war crimes and crimes against humanity. Separately, Israel is facing genocide charges at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) over its actions in the enclave.
The situation remains dire, with ongoing bombardments and little reprieve for Gaza’s civilian population.
