Qatar participates in 34th session of Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice in Austria

Vienna, May 19 (QNA) – The State of Qatar participated in the 34th session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in the Austrian capital, Vienna.
In his speech, HE the Legal Advisor to HE the Minister of Interior and Head of Qatar’s delegation, Maj. Gen. Dr. Abdullah Yusuf Al Mal, highlighted the country’s efforts to promote criminal justice and combat crime.
He emphasized Qatar’s support for the United Nations Convention on Cybercrime and called for accelerating its entry into force, stressing the importance of international cooperation in addressing cybercrimes.
His Excellency also referenced the establishment of the Regional Center for Cybercrime Prevention in Doha, in collaboration with the United Nations, which aims to serve as a platform to support countries’ capacities and strengthen regulatory frameworks in this field.
He further outlined Qatar’s efforts to combat human trafficking through a comprehensive national plan, as well as the country’s involvement in regional preparations for the 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention.
He also noted that Qatar is preparing to host the 11th Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption in December 2025, underscoring its commitment to act in the spirit of responsibility and shared interests to combat corruption in all its forms and strengthen international solidarity for peace and development.
