- More than QAR 5 billion worth of contracts were signed with over 25,000 visitor
Doha, Qatar, March 6, 2024: The eighth edition of the Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX 2024), under the patronage of HH Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, concluded on March 6th, 2024, with a strong international and local presence.
Themed “Igniting the Future Of Maritime Security and Beyond,” this edition exceeded expectations, with over QAR 5 billion in contracts signed, along with various MoUs and Letters of Intent. The event welcomed 25,000 visitors and featured 200 international and national companies, showcasing the latest innovations in defence and maritime security solutions, alongside nine international pavilions.
Staff Brigadier (Sea) Abdulbaqi Saleh Al-Ansari, Chairman of DIMDEX 2024’s Organising Committee, highlighted the event’s success, emphasizing the value of contracts exceeding QAR 5 billion and the significant number of visitors. DIMDEX serves as a vital platform for facilitating agreements, showcasing critical innovations, and fostering long-term partnerships.
DIMDEX reflects Qatar’s commitment to showcasing modern defence innovations and building long-term partnerships, aligning with the goals of the National Vision 2030. The event emphasizes economic diversification, development promotion, and growth stimulation.
National entities, including the Qatar Armed Forces, actively participated, with the inauguration of Project 401 for Special Operations marking a significant milestone in enhancing global special forces and counter-terrorism capabilities.
The exhibition expanded its offerings to include critical defence categories complementary to maritime safety and security, featuring exhibitors’ latest innovations and integrated solutions.
Additionally, the Middle East Naval Commanders Conference, themed “Economic Growth Prospects Amidst Security Challenges and Their Global Impact,” was hosted in partnership with the Strategic Studies Centre. The conference featured international speakers, academics, and military leaders. Hamad Port welcomed 8 warships as part of the visiting warships display.
DIMDEX 2024’s success underscores its pivotal role in advancing maritime security and promoting international collaboration in defence, ensuring a safer and more secure global maritime environment.
