Doha – The Qatar Society for the Rehabilitation of People with Disabilities proudly launched its 23rd annual exhibition under the theme “Creative Hearts,” celebrating the remarkable talents and achievements of people with disabilities. The event reinforced the message that disability is not a barrier but a powerful source of strength, creativity, and inspiration.
The exhibition featured a vibrant and diverse display of artworks and handmade crafts, including visual arts, embroidery, tailoring, painting, and bookbinding. Each piece reflected the skill, imagination, and dedication of the participants, showcasing their hidden talents, artistic precision, and remarkable resilience despite challenges.
The opening ceremony was attended by notable figures such as Mr. Talib Afifa, a respected member of the Society, and Mr. Naji Zakarneh, sign language interpreter at Al Jazeera Channel. Their presence, alongside numerous members, affiliates, and supporters, demonstrated strong community solidarity and offered moral encouragement to the participants.
His Excellency Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Al Thani, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Society, emphasized the event’s role in reinforcing national identity and the timeless values of cooperation, empathy, and goodwill inspired by Qatar’s rich heritage. He stressed that fostering solidarity and inclusiveness is essential for sustainable development and for strengthening the social fabric that supports people of all abilities.
As a volunteer and media advisor for the Society, I had the privilege to engage closely with these young artists and witness their extraordinary creative work. Their art sent a powerful message of perseverance, hope, and self-expression, proving that they deserve a distinguished place on the map of achievement and recognition.
Special acknowledgment goes to the Society’s Executive Director, Mr. Amir Al Mulla, whose unwavering dedication and visionary leadership were instrumental in organizing the event and providing a lasting platform for empowerment and social inclusion.
“Creative Hearts” was more than just a title it was a heartfelt message from people with disabilities to the world that creativity knows no limits, and believing in their potential is the vital first step toward meaningful societal change.
