MIRPUR ( AJK): June 24: Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq of Azad Jammu Kashmir has advised citizens to adopt due precautionary measures to avert threats to life and property during the forthcoming impending heavy monsoon rains in the region.
He was chairing a high level meeting held in the state metropolis on Tuesday. The meeting reviewed the preparedness for the forthcoming monsoon.
The PM directed the authorities concerned of the premier emergency services departments to stay on high alert and ensure provision of health care facilities to citizens during emergency situations.
Anwar ul Haq said that the StatecPress Information Department should provide authentic and timely information to keep citizens abreast of the current situation during the monsoon
The meeting was attended by Senior Minister Colonel (retd) Waqar Ahmed Noor, government ministers Nisar Ansar Abdali, Chaudhry Azhar Sadiq, Chief Secretary Khushal Khan, Divisional Commissioners, SDMA and other emergency relief officials.
The meeting resolved that the SDMA in collaboration with the Local Government Department would ensure the cleaning of drains and nullahs before the monsoon starts.The meeting decided to launch an effective public awareness campaign before the monsoon with the cooperation of the Information Department.It was also decided to establish a control room for Quick Response during the monsoon, which will include all emergency relief departments including Health, Police, District Administration, District Administration and Highways Department.
The meeting also decided to take immediate steps to ensure uninterrupted supply of medicines and flour in remote areas during the monsoon.The meeting also sought identification of areas likely to be affected by cloudbursts in advance and taking precautionary measures to avoid any unpleasant incident.
