In 2017 , I attended a conference where teachers from all over the world came together. Among them I met two Palestinian educators. our conversation stayed with me even after all these years. they shared their frustration about the situation of Palestine, especially how difficult it is for them to find refuge. they were upset with the Gulf countries for not opening doors for them. They also questioned why Jews and Muslims can live peacefully in Morocco or other Muslim countries, but not in Palestine.
today I watched the terrifying images of Israel’s attacks on Syria, their words came flooding back to me. it made me reflect again on the state of Muslims world and the continuous conflicts surrounding us.
we Muslims are already facing countless internal challenges. We have poverty, lack of education, political instability, and economic struggle. We are not a superpower nation, we are among developing nations, still trying to build ourselves. sadly even though we never initiate wars, many conflicts are imposed on us. We are dragged into wars that cost us our peace, recourses, and future.
Let us live in peace , we don’t wish to interfere anyone’s wars. we don’t want to be the part of power game. we are already dealing with our own crises. Our people are suffering. we are trying to improve ourselves. we are not united to create problems for anyone, unity is already a challenge for us when it comes to global issues.
So, there’s no need to fear or pull us into bigger conflicts. Please stop using our lands, resources, and people as a part of your international strategies and wars. Let us stay focused on our children’s education, hospitals, and economics. Let us build better lives for our next generation.
All we ask is: Live and let us live. we are tired of being caught between wars we never started and problems we never wanted.
