Doha – July 19, 2025
The National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) has launched its annual educational campaign, introducing a specialized training kit for Qatari and expatriate students enrolled in government school summer centers. This initiative targets youth aged 6–18 across three institutions: Khalifa Secondary School for Boys, Omar Bin Al-Khattab Secondary School for Boys, and Al-Wakrah Secondary School for Boys. The program runs from July 13 to August 7, 2025.
Hamad Al-Hajri, Director of Programs and Education at NHRC, emphasized the long-term value of early education in human rights. “Awareness and education are vital investments in building a just society where dignity and justice are upheld,” he said. “There is no community development without individual development, and that begins with understanding one’s rights and responsibilities.”
Al-Hajri noted the NHRC’s ongoing efforts to engage students at all academic levels in both boys’ and girls’ schools. These efforts aim to foster awareness of rights and duties within families, communities, the nation, and globally.
The training is being delivered by Abdulrahman Al-Hammadi, Head of the Studies and Research Department, and Faisal Thamer Al-Qahtani, Human Rights Research Specialist. The curriculum includes key human rights concepts such as the evolution of human rights, duties, legal instruments, and the difference between declarations and conventions. It underscores the indivisibility and universality of civil, political, economic, social, and cultural rights.
A dedicated module on children’s digital safety addresses growing concerns in today’s digital environment. It highlights human rights in the digital context, safe online access, emerging challenges, and preventive measures in line with international standards.
The summer centers, organized by Qatar’s Ministry of Education and Higher Education, aim to provide students with an enriching and safe environment during the break, fostering personal growth, citizenship, and responsible engagement
