MIRPUR ( AJK): July 25 : AJK Supreme Court Bar Associtaion here Thursday strongly condemned the continual massacre of civilians in Gaza and criticised the inaction and silence of the Muslim world’s leadership in the face of what he termed as “one of the gravest humanitarian tragedies of the current era”.
In a statement issued here President of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Supreme Court Bar Association, Advocate Javaid Najam-us-Saqib said that “the blood of innocent men, women, and children in Gaza is a stark indictment of the collective failure and cowardice of Muslim rulers.” He maintained that while Israel continues to violate international laws with impunity, Islamic states have failed to even formulate a united diplomatic front.
Citing international legal frameworks, he stated that the UN Charter, the 1949 Geneva Conventions, and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) all stress the protection of civilian populations, medical access, and the prohibition of collective punishment—yet these principles have been flagrantly disregarded in Gaza.
“Israel’s repeated targeting of civilian infrastructure, hospitals, and refugee camps qualifies not only as war crimes but also as crimes against humanity under the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court (ICC),” Saqib noted.
He lamented the lack of action from global institutions, including the United Nations, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC), and called for immediate steps to initiate legal proceedings against Israeli leadership in the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and the ICC.
He further remarked that “those who shy away from seeking justice on global platforms today will face the harsh verdict of history — and divine accountability in the hereafter.”
Reaffirming solidarity with Palestine, the AJK Supreme Court Bar President pledged that the Kashmiri legal fraternity stands firmly with the oppressed people of Gaza and will continue to raise its voice on all international platforms against injustice and occupation.
