Makkah Al Mukarramah, July 25 (QNA) – The Muslim World League (MWL) has welcomed the announcement made by French President Emmanuel Macron regarding his country’s intention to recognize the State of Palestine next September.
In a statement today, Secretary-General of MWL, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al Issa considered the French decision a step in the right direction toward a legitimate and responsible stance supporting the historical and legal rights of the Palestinian people, and the only way to achieve comprehensive, just, and lasting peace in the region.
He called on other countries to follow the example of the French Republic in support of truth and justice and in defense of international legitimacy.
Dr. Al Issa also reiterated his call on the international community to assume its responsibilities towards an immediate end to the brutal war on civilians in the Gaza Strip and to support the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative and relevant international resolutions.
