New York, September 12, 2025 (QNA) – Arab and Islamic states expressed full solidarity with the State of Qatar following Israel’s brutal attack on Doha on September 9, which targeted residential compounds housing the Hamas negotiating delegation and resulted in deaths and multiple injuries. The emergency session of the UN Security Council on Thursday evening addressed the assault and its severe implications for regional and international peace, security, and stability.
Egypt’s representative Osama Abdel Khalek praised Qatar’s coordinated efforts with Egypt and the United States to secure a ceasefire in Gaza and restore stability for both Palestinians and Israelis. He strongly condemned Israel’s attack on a fellow Arab state as part of a systematic campaign against the Palestinian people, calling for immediate action under Chapter VII of the UN Charter to halt aggression and support mediation efforts. Abdel Khalek stressed that Qatar and other Arab states have full legal options under international law to respond to such violations and must not be ignored.
On behalf of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Kuwaiti ambassador Tareq Al Banai reaffirmed full GCC solidarity with Qatar, denouncing any threat to its sovereignty, security, or stability. He held Israel fully accountable for the assault and warned that repeated violations would trigger stronger collective political, diplomatic, and legal measures. Al Banai emphasized that any continuation of such attacks would have severe consequences for the security of all Gulf states and called for unified regional action.
Turkish ambassador Ahmet Yildiz, speaking for the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, described the attack as state terrorism and a deliberate attempt to destabilize the region. He affirmed the OIC’s unwavering support for Qatar’s right and duty to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity, urging the Security Council to act decisively and hold Israel accountable for its aggression.
Iraqi ambassador Lukman Faily, representing the Arab Group, condemned the strike as aggression against the entire region and a flagrant threat to international peace and security. He called for immediate measures to protect civilians, prevent further escalation, and ensure accountability for those threatening stability.
Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi described Israel’s leadership as rogue, extremist, and indifferent to international law, stressing the urgent need for the international community to curb its aggressive actions and protect regional stability and global peace.
Diplomatic Adviser to the UAE President, Anwar Gargash, denounced the attack as a serious violation of international law, including the UN Charter. He warned that repeated failures of the Security Council to act decisively would endanger peace, escalate violence, and undermine efforts to achieve a ceasefire. Gargash highlighted Qatar’s crucial role, alongside Egypt and the United States, in facilitating hostage releases, delivering humanitarian aid, and seeking diplomatic solutions.
The collective statements underscored that Israel’s aggressive policies threaten not only Qatar but the stability, security, and peace of the broader region. Diplomats called on the international community to act urgently to uphold sovereignty, prevent further bloodshed, and restore prospects for lasting peace and regional cooperation.
