New York, September 21 (QNA) – HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani’s consistent participation in the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) reflects Qatar’s growing influence on the global stage, said HE Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Muraikhi, Special Adviser to the UN Secretary-General on Public-Private Partnerships and Islamic Social Financing.
In remarks to QNA on the occasion of the 80th UNGA, Dr. Al Muraikhi noted that HH the Amir’s speeches have always carried principled and transparent messages, emphasizing respect for sovereignty, rejection of violence, dialogue, and humanitarian response. These stances, he said, have enhanced Qatar’s credibility in multilateral diplomacy.
He stressed that Qatar views the UNGA as a key platform to share its balanced vision on political, humanitarian, and development challenges. Over the years, Qatar has evolved from being a UN member state to a proactive partner shaping initiatives in mediation, peace, and humanitarian support, particularly in Sudan, Lebanon, Afghanistan, and Gaza.
Dr. Al Muraikhi highlighted Qatar’s strong partnerships with UN agencies and contributions in education, healthcare, women’s empowerment, and refugee support. He described Qatar’s approach as “smart, multi-track diplomacy,” combining political mediation with humanitarian diplomacy. Sustained support for crisis regions such as Syria, Yemen, Palestine, and Afghanistan, alongside innovative financing tools like Islamic endowments, further reflect this strategy.
He praised Qatar’s role in hosting high-level UNGA side events and launching initiatives addressing education in emergencies, poverty, and youth empowerment. Looking ahead, he pointed to discussions on expanding the Islamic Social Financing Initiative and developing the Humanitarian Leadership Initiative with the Ministry of Education.
Concluding, Dr. Al Muraikhi emphasized that Qatar stands out as a reliable partner of the UN, advancing peace, development, and humanitarian goals worldwide.
