Islamabad, September 22 (QNA) – Pakistani police announced on Monday that fourteen militants and ten civilians were killed in an explosion at a clandestine improvised explosive device (IED) factory in the country’s northwest.
In a statement, the police said the blast also destroyed five nearby houses, noting that the explosion occurred at a secret IED facility operated by militants in the middle of a residential neighborhood in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Pakistan witnessed a sharp increase in militant attacks in recent months, while its security forces have been engaged for years in efforts to eliminate armed groups entrenched in mountainous regions that occasionally launch attacks against security personnel and civilians. (QNA)
