MNS University Seminar Highlights Safe Pesticide Use, Aflatoxin Prevention in Rice

Multan, September 24, 2025 – The Institute of Plant Protection and Directorate of Pest Warning and Quality Control, in collaboration with the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), organized a seminar on “Maximum Limit of Pesticide Residues and Aflatoxins in Rice and Its Problems” at MNS University of Agriculture, Multan.
The seminar was presided over by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Asif Ali (Sitara-e-Imtiaz), who emphasized the critical importance of addressing pesticide residues and aflatoxins in agricultural products, underlining their impact on national exports and public health. He noted that the presence of toxic chemicals not only affects exports but also poses significant risks to the health of future generations. The Vice Chancellor assured that the university’s faculty, students, and resources are fully committed to guiding farmers and improving agricultural practices.
Experts at the seminar stressed the need for safe pesticide use and adoption of modern production technologies to meet global food standards. The event provided practical guidance to farmers on safe pesticide application, aflatoxin prevention, and the introduction of advanced production methods.
The seminar was attended by prominent figures including Dr. Amir Rasool, Director General of Pest Warning and Quality Control, Mr. Athar Khokhar, DG TDAP, Prof. Dr. Hammad Nadeem Tahir, Prof. Dr. Mubashir Mehdi, Prof. Dr. Shafqat Saeed, Dr. Khalid Zafar, Shahzad Sabir, along with rice farmers, and representatives from the Rice Exporters Association and rice mill owners.
