Qatar Affirms Israeli Occupation Seeks to Undermine Chance of Peace in the Region

Geneva, September 30 (QNA) The State of Qatar reaffirmed that Israeli occupation policies including settlement expansion, colonial practices, and aggressive measures pose a serious threat to peace and security in the region while undermining de-escalation efforts.
This came in a statement delivered by HE Dr. Hind Abdulrahman Al Muftah, Permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations in Geneva, during the general debate on the human rights situation in Palestine and other occupied Arab territories under Item 7 of the 60th session of the Human Rights Council.
Her Excellency welcomed the recent recognition of the State of Palestine by several countries, describing it as a victory for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. She stressed that such recognitions are consistent with international legitimacy, Security Council resolutions, and the New York Declaration, which calls for a two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Dr. Al Muftah underscored that recognition must be translated into concrete action, urging the international community to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities. She called for effective pressure on Israel to halt its war on Gaza, end crimes of genocide, forced displacement, and starvation, and allow the delivery of sufficient humanitarian aid.
She further emphasized the necessity of ending the Israeli occupation of all Palestinian and Arab territories and ensuring accountability for those responsible for grave violations and crimes against the Palestinian people.
