MIRPUR ( AJK ): Oct 19: A high-level delegation from Pakistan, organized under the platform of the Kazakhstan Alumni Forum Pakistan (KAFP) and facilitated by the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Pakistan, successfully concluded a series of official academic and professional engagements across Kazakhstan, it was officially stated.
“The initiative reflects the shared vision of both nations to deepen cooperation in education, medicine, science, and technology”, Dr. Ijaz Ahmed Raja, President Pakistan Medical Association Mirpur AJK District told this Correspondent here on Sunday.
Elaborating saliant features of the event, the PMA District President said that the visit commenced in first week of this monthat Astana Medical University (AMU). The delegation was led by Dr. Nasir Gul Laeq, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, and included distinguished clinicians and representatives:

The delegation, he continued, was warmly received by Dr. Abilmazhinov M. T., Head of the Department of Traumatology and Orthopedics, and Ms. Liliya Bilan, Vice-Dean for International Students, School of Medicine.
Later, Prof. Dr. Ayan Myssayev, Vice-Rector for Strategic Development and International Collaboration, also joined the meeting and welcomed the visitors.
During the interactive academic session, Dr. Gohar Latif Kalis delivered an inspiring presentation on professional growth and medical ethics. He, along with Dr. Abdul Sattar, Dr. Naheem Ullah, Dr. Ihsan Khan, and Dr. Laeq, engaged students in an open discussion on study strategies, PMDC examination preparation, and career development. The Pakistani students raised thoughtful questions regarding recognition of AMU degrees by the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC). The delegation assured them that this matter would be addressed through joint coordination among AMU, the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Islamabad, the Kazakhstan Alumni Forum Pakistan, PMDC, and HEC Pakistan.
The team also visited AMU’s advanced clinical skills laboratories, including BLS, ACLS, and PALS simulation units, and praised the university’s training standards. The visit concluded with cordial refreshments and mutual affirmation of strengthening academic ties between AMU and Pakistani medical institutions.
Following the successful opening event in Astana, the delegation traveled to Karaganda, where they participated in the International Orthopedic & Traumatology Conference organized by KATO – the Kazakhstan Association of Traumatology and Orthopedics.
Pakistani delegates and experts, including Prof. Dr. Arif Khan (President PAO – Pakistan Association of Orthopedics), Prof. Dr. Amin (HOD, Indus Hospital Karachi), Dr. Abdul Sattar, Dr. Ihsan Khan, and Dr. Naem, presented their clinical and research work.
The delegation was warmly hosted by Prof. Beirik, Prof. Vidadi, and their dedicated team at the Department of Orthopedics, Karaganda Medical University, whose hospitality and academic coordination were deeply appreciated. Beyond academic sessions, an international Gala Dinner Night brought together orthopedic experts from around the world, enabling the exchange of knowledge and fellowship. The event, held on 9–10 October, reflected the spirit of professional unity and scientific collaboration between Kazakhstan and Pakistan.
Subsequently, the delegation visited Almaty, where on 15 October they were hosted by S. D. Asfendiyarov Kazakhstan National Medical University (KazNMU). The team attended the welcome ceremony for the second-year class, where Dr. Gohar Latif Kalis, as a proud alumnus of KazNMU, addressed students with words of encouragement. He emphasized that KazNMU is an Alma Mater to be proud of and urged students to serve humanity with compassion and excellence.
Later, the delegation met Prof. Dr. Datkhaev, Pro-Rector, and Prof. Dr. Nurjamalaevna, Dean of Foreign Students, discussing opportunities for academic collaboration, student exchange, and alumni networking between KazNMU and KAFP.
On 16 October, the delegation held a productive meeting with the Departments of Orthopedics and General Surgery at City Hospital No. 4 Almaty. The Pakistani doctors were received by Prof. Nabiev Ergali Numanavich (Head of Orthopedic Department), Associate Prof. Alkhodzhaev Sarurbekovich, Ph.D. Turbekov Nurlan Temirzhanovich, and Deputy Director of Surgery Mr. Kozhaemeyov Taimurkhan, together with residents and interns. Both sides discussed expanding clinical collaboration, postgraduate training, and hands-on workshops in Ilizarov technique for international orthopedic surgeons. The Kazakh team also expressed readiness to participate in the upcoming International Orthocon Conference, scheduled by PAO Pakistan for May 2026 in Islamabad.
Throughout the multi-city visit, the Kazakhstan Alumni Forum Pakistan expressed profound gratitude to His Excellency Mr. Yerzhan Kistafin, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Pakistan, for his continued guidance and support in promoting alumni collaboration and advancing bilateral cooperation in education, healthcare, and scientific research.
Special thanks were extended to the administrations of Astana Medical University, Karaganda Medical University, KATO, and KazNMU for their warm hospitality, coordination, and facilitation.
The Kazakhstan Alumni Forum Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to serving as a bridge of knowledge, friendship, and professional cooperation between Kazakhstan and Pakistan — guiding future alumni to uphold the values of academic excellence and humanitarian service that unite both nations.
