Moscow, Oct. 24: Five people, including a child, were injured overnight in a drone attack that struck a residential building in Krasnogorsk, a city in the Moscow region, Governor Andrey Vorobyov said on Friday.
According to Russia’s Defense Ministry, air defense systems intercepted 111 Ukrainian drones launched toward multiple Russian regions, including one in the Moscow area. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin confirmed that three drones targeting the capital were shot down early Friday morning.
In response to the threat, Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency temporarily suspended flights at two Moscow airports for safety reasons, before resuming normal operations about an hour later.
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s Air Force reported that it destroyed 72 Russian combat drones overnight, underscoring the intensifying aerial confrontation between the two countries.
Local authorities said emergency teams were deployed immediately to the attack site in Krasnogorsk, where the injured residents received medical assistance. The strike caused damage to several apartments but no fatalities were reported.
The incident marks one of the latest escalations in ongoing cross-border drone exchanges between Russia and Ukraine.
