MIRPUR ( AJK): October 30: The Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF – Yasin Malik) has, through a UK based international law firm “33 Bedford Row Barrister’s Chambers” yesterday on October 29 filed a petition against Indian government in United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention (UNWGAD) challenging the arrest, unlawful conviction, partial court proceedings, the death penalty petition and inadequate medical care like other injustices met with its illegally incarcerated party chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik, who is currently languishing in infamous Indian Delhi Tihar Jail for over last six years in solitary confinement, it was officially said.

A JKLF [Yasin Malik] spokesman, quoting an official statement reaching on Thursday told media here today that the renowned lawyers team is led by competent and experienced international law expert Barrister Tariq Mehmood and is assisted by Barrister Carl Buckley and Barrister Aqsa Hussain.

The lawyers team flanked with UK based JKLF leaders Prof. Raja Zafar Khan, Sabir Gul and Liaqat Ali Lone while announcing the filing of petition in a press conference held at their law chamber yesterday in London said that the petition has been filed on behalf of Yasin Malik after receiving the consent from JKLF leadership.

In the statement issued from party’s central information office, the JKLF chief spokesman Muhammad Rafiq Dar while giving details of the press conference said that the lawyers team in the said petition has questioned the Indian judicial system and their verdicts visa viz Yasin Malik’s politically motivated cases filed against him by Indian National Investigation Agency (NIA).

According to the statement, Barrister Tariq Mehmood while giving a detailed briefing to the media said that the petition has sought UNWG’s help in providing justice to Yasin Malik who has tremendously contributed in peaceful resolution of Jammu Kashmir issue. Barrister Carl Buckley and Barrister Aqsa Hussain put light on different topics of the petition.

The Central spokesman Rafiq Dar said in his statement released to the media here, informed that JKLF Diplomatic Bureau Head Prof. Raja Zafar Khan, JKLF Central Chief Organiser Sabir Gul and JKLF UK President Liaqat Ali lone briefed the media about the injustices met with Yasin Malik during incarceration. They also gave a detailed account of the freedom struggle of Jammu Kashmir and said that the just, amicable, democratic and permanent resolution of Jammu Kashmir is a must so that the peace in the region is restored, he added.
