Doha, November 8 (QNA) – The Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar to the United Nations in New York hosted a high-level dinner in Doha, bringing together women leaders participating in the Second World Summit for Social Development to discuss women’s leadership and digital innovation for sustainable development.

Held at the Museum of Islamic Art, the event honored HE Annalena Baerbock, President of the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly, and HE Amina Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations. The gathering was attended by HE Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad, Minister of State for International Cooperation; HE Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, Minister of Social Development and Family; HE Sima Bahous, Executive Director of UN Women; and several heads of delegations and prominent women leaders.

She emphasized that technology must serve humanity, particularly vulnerable groups such as children, women, and persons with disabilities, especially in conflict-affected areas.

HE Buthaina Al Nuaimi highlighted Qatar’s human-centered approach to social development, which integrates innovation, ethical values, and data-driven decision-making to promote inclusion and enhance well-being. She underlined that technology, when guided by compassion and fairness, can become a transformative tool for progress.

HE Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani, Qatar’s Permanent Representative to the UN, who moderated the discussion, noted that the dialogue offered a valuable opportunity to celebrate women’s leadership and explore how innovation supports the Doha Political Declaration on Social Development and the broader 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Addressing the event, HE Annalena Baerbock reaffirmed the UN’s dedication to promoting women’s leadership in digital transformation, emphasizing that inclusion and equality are central to achieving sustainable development.

HE Amina Mohammed praised Qatar’s leading role in advancing social development and women’s empowerment through international partnerships and innovation-driven initiatives.
